Job Description

The Gas Phase Chemical Dynamics (GPCD) group at Argonne National Laboratory seeks a postdoctoral appointee in the field of theoretical chemical dynamics to work on projects related to solar energy conversion.

This position will involve close collaborations with theoretical, experimental, and computational scientists in the GPCD group and in Argonne’s Solar Energy Conversion group. This position supports the development of new dynamical theories, computational strategies, and high performance computing software, as well as their application in characterizing the fundamental nonadiabatic dynamics of photon capture, ultrafast charge transfer, charge recombination, and the associated coupled nuclear and structural dynamics in laboratory systems relevant to solar energy.

This position requires a recent PhD in chemistry or physics, a record of strong academic achievement, some scientific programming and computing experience, and expertise in an area of theoretical chemistry. The ideal candidate will be interested in methods development in dynamics and kinetics, including the development of software designed to take advantage of Argonne’s high-performance computing resources.
