Duties & Responsibilities
The position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Science, Math, and Engineering. The instructor will teach 15 load hours per semester of primarily freshman and sophomore college level biology classes including labs. Responsibilities include developing and revising instructional materials using the Canvas LMS; holding a minimum of 5 office hours per week; maintaining and reporting student grades; assisting in recommending and orienting part-time faculty; engaging in professional development; organizing and maintaining program curricula; and serving on college councils and committees. Day and evening classes can be expected. Instruction will primarily be face-to-face (post-pandemic) with instruction at the Main Campus and at satellite campuses (located within 15 miles of the Main Campus).
A master’s degree in biology (or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in biology content) is required. The successful candidate will value diversity; have experience working with Native American, Latinx, and other adult/minority students; and have a strong commitment to the community college philosophy. All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.
