Research Coordinator II – Vidrine Lab

Summary:

The Vidrine Lab is currently implementing three large randomized controlled trials funded by the National Cancer Institute designed to evaluate novel tobacco cessation interventions for vulnerable and underserved populations. These populations include individuals seeking services at food pantries in the Tampa Bay area and people living with HIV (PLWH).

Position Highlights:

  • Research participant recruitment in various settings, including online and community-based settings in the Tampa Bay Area.
  • Required to work early evenings and weekends during recruitment phase of studies
  • Data collection for randomized controlled trials and other behavioral studies, including questionnaire administration, interviewing, and biological specimens
  • Work with multiple databases

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow standardized research procedures
  • Ability to be flexible, balancing multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing interests
  • Team player
  • Independent and self-motivated, able to be effective with limited supervision
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Public Health or Psychology is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish
  • Proactive and solution-oriented workstyle preferred
  • Critical thinking and intellectual problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates ability to assess priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality
  • Experience or education in social behavioral science, public health, or a related field

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide general research support to Principal Investigator based on primary supervision from Research Project Manager
  • Meets with study participants in community-based settings for visits (including early evenings and weekends), as well as communicates with participants via telephone, email, and text
  • Conducts data entry and oversight of standardized research procedures
  • Coordinates administrative tasks for the investigator including first draft of documents for submission to the IRB, for review by senior study personnel and/or principal investigator
  • Search for and retrieve relevant scientific literature
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control data checks
  • Document protocol exemptions and deviations, as appropriate
  • Prepare the data, figures, and references for meetings and scientific presentations
  • Assist with manuscript preparation

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 1 year of relevant experience required OR Associate's degree required with 3 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with no experience
  • Hands on research experience
  • Experience in the use of basic office equipment
  • Experience working with computers and MS Office software environment
  • Must have the ability to work well under the pressure of meeting mandatory deadlines
  • Must have good organizational skills and careful attention to details
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required
  • Need to have the ability to read, write, interpret, and apply instructions to assigned activities
  • Candidate is required to have reliable transportation to drive to food pantry sites throughout the Tampa Bay Area
