Job Description

Moffitt McKinley Hospital, opening July 2023.

Moffitt’s new 10-story hospital that will expand state-of-the-art surgical services for the thousands of patients needing highly complex surgeries and related inpatient care each year.

McKinley Hospital features Outpatient surgical and diagnostic imaging programs complementing our current outpatient surgical practice at the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Outpatient Center across the street and our inpatient and clinical operations on the Magnolia campus. Opening the surgical hospital directly impacts Moffitt’s ability to expand services at our Magnolia campus, alleviates space constraints for patient care and opens up more space for vital cancer research.

Together, we will provide patients and families with a wide range of sophisticated services and comforting spaces in addition to those provided at the nearby founding campus.

The flow cytometry technologist processes specimens and performs complex acquisition and analysis procedures for testing performed in the clinical flow cytometry section of the laboratory.  Testing includes but is not limited to immunodeficiency panels, leukemia/lymphoma panels, quantitative PNH assays, and DNA analysis.  Responsibilities also include instrument maintenance and function checks, quality control and quality assurance activities, validation of new methods, and training of new employees.  The medical technologist exercises broad independent judgment and requires minimal technical supervision to complete assigned tasks.

Required:

Associate's Degree

Field of Study: Medical Technology or Biological Science

Training/Experience: Licensure Requirements: Florida State Medical Technologist license in the specialties of Hematology and Serology/Immunology are required.  Previous experience as a medical technologist in the specialty of hematology is preferred.  Previous flow cytometry experience including data acquisition and analysis is also preferred.

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a highly technical, precise environment.
