Job Summary:

Works in conjunction with Physical/Occupational Therapists to assist in positioning, transferring, and treating patients. Supports the rehab and speech/nutrition clinics via assistance with equipment maintenance, billing reconciliation/coding, Joint Commission compliance with regulatory checklists, coordination with Sterile Processing Dept for equipment cleaning, and performs general departmental organization tasks.

Works in collaboration with rehab and nursing to safety ambulate inpatients to ensure sufficient mobility throughout the inpatient admission. Performs mobility tasks independently, utilizing daily reports and participation in daily interdisciplinary rounds to determine patient eligibility.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare the patient for PT/OT intervention by gathering needed equipment/patient care items, preparing the room, etc.
  • Serve as a second set of hands for patients with limited mobility, by assisting PT/OT with positioning, transferring, gait training, functional activities, activities of daily living, and/or range of motion.
  • Perform set up, daily checks, and removal of patient helpers as directed by PT/OT.
  • Attend daily IDR to collaborate with RN and PT/OT to determine and establish appropriate caseload referrals.
  • Follow the decision flow sheet for all independent sessions.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED 
  • BLS certification
