Postdoctoral Associate – Targeted Proteomics of Metabolic Stress in Diabetes

The Stitzel Lab at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, CT is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to join our scientific team working to identify new proteomic biomarkers of diabetes-associated stress responses in metabolic tissues (pancreas, adipose, liver, muscle). This individual will create and employ cell and mouse models to interrogate changes in protein localization, trafficking, and processing caused by insulin resistance or exposure to diabetogenic stressors using innovative proximity proteomic (e.g., BioID, TurboID) technology. Exceptional candidates can show early independence through the JAX Scholars Program. In addition to lab-based training, JAX has developed a unique program for postdocs to expand their professional skills in science communication, entrepreneurship, teaching, mentoring and laboratory management to best prepare them for future career opportunities. Past and current trainees have been extremely successful obtaining fellowships and pursuing individualized career development plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
- M.D or Ph.D. in biological or related fields is required.
- Expertise in molecular biology (cloning, immunoprecipitation), cell culture, and mouse handling is essential. Familiarity with mass spec data generation and analysis is desirable.
- Passionate, self-motivated, and career-oriented individual preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Minimum of one first author publication from graduate work as objective evidence of scientific leadership and research accomplishments
