Job Summary:
The Office of Financial Aid is seeking a qualified candidate that will ensure accurate application in applying Federal/State policies and procedures for awarding aid. The Financial Aid Counselor will also provide information and financial assistance to new, continuing and re-entry students pertaining to eligibility requirements of aid. The incumbent must maintain an environment of quality customer service to students and parents.

Essential Responsibilities:
Award institutional, federal, Title IV and state aid.
Oversee completion of student information and documentation collection.
Counsel the financial aid population on all matters concerning the availability of financial aid, eligibility, procedural steps, alternatives, budgets, resources, and the resolution of problems.
Work collaboratively with Admissions, Records and Registration, Bursar and other University constituents.
Represents the office, when called upon on financial aid matters at secondary schools, other institutions of higher education, orientation and recruitment programs of the University, and at interested outside organizations and agencies.
Manages Federal Work Study Program, including reconciliation and program improvement
Manages financial aid office federal work-study students
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:
Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in higher education or similar environment.
Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office suite including: Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skill with demonstrated diplomacy.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft application.
Ability to perform multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
Ability to take initiative and analyze problems and articulate solutions.
Ability to listen to others (e.g. students, parents, staff etc.) and respond positively to their requests/concerns.
Ability to work independently on complex assignments alone or with others.
