Job Function:

Provide overall support for Ball State University Dining and additional Auxiliaries within Business and Auxiliary Services for all computer systems, related applications, hardware and software, this includes but not limited to specific knowledge of the CBORD® and MICROS® proprietary software programs, user training, support and budgetary recommendations.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Education:

Master's degree from an accredited institution,

Minimum Experience:

At least five years of direct or related work experience of management information systems and project systems. Demonstrated leadership and dynamic team building skills; demonstrated progressive work in managing project timelines, specifications and workflow.

Preferred Experience:

Experience working in an academic environment with experience in information systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties related to the effective, efficient and timely management of CBORD® and MICROS® proprietary software programs; recommend and establish standards, install all upgrades and patches to both systems, test and train all University Dining personnel. Requires specific knowledge of the CBORD® and MICROS® proprietary software program to fully coordinate system components to ensure accuracy of the systems data and output. Engage in a cycle of continuous improvement to reduce or eliminate unscheduled system downtime by utilizing industry best-practice protocols and operational procedures.
  • Assure rapid incident response and speedy resolution for problems; facilitate recovery of managed systems in the event of hardware and/or software failure. Coordinate the involvement of third-party support services when needed to resolve issues; engage on a 24/7 basis to resolve critical issues as needed, and work collaboratively with university colleagues to ensure complete coverage at all times.
  • Provide back-up support for the Meal Access Card Systems Coordinator, including but not limited to; coordinate all meal card and additional services for university students, Burris School lunch students, Indiana Academy students, guests and special event cards according to Ball State University and University Dining policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records and license agreements; includes but not limited to maintenance agreements and security of proprietary information; ensure strict adherence to departmental and university policies regarding copyright and software license control.
  • Coordinate the ongoing operation and maintenance of all hardware, software, network infrastructure, and related computing systems, monitor repair and installation requests to ensure that equipment remains in operation; make decision as to the feasibility of equipment maintenance. Assist University Dining and Business and Auxiliary staff members in finding solutions relating to computer hardware and software applications. Communicating on a regular basis with staff and colleagues of Unified Technology Support (UTS).
  • Establish regular periodic meetings with the Office of Information Technology to ensure compliance, ongoing operation and maintenance of all hardware, software, network infrastructure and related computing systems.
  • Participate as a member of the University Dining Leadership Team in meetings, committees, and projects to develop strategies and programs consistent with the mission, goals and objectives of the Ball State University and University Dining.
  • Establish and maintain a master calendar for all patches and upgrades for both systems including but not limited to hardware maintenance, software subscriptions and maintenance agreements. Serve as a resource; assist with training and coach staff in the set-up, usage, and documentation manuals of the CBORD® and MICROS® Systems. Write and prepare training manuals as needed.
  • Attend annual national and periodic regional CBORD® User Conferences. Represent the interests of Ball State University Dining in recommending enhancements to all CBORD® modules. Stay abreast of the “cutting edge” technology available from CBORD® and MICROS® and other system providers to make recommendations for changes and/or enhancements.
  • Contribute to the planning of the departmental budget by submitting requests for upgrades and/or patches, maintenance and/or service agreements, repair and new computing systems in support of Business and Auxiliary Services and University Dining strategic initiatives and goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
