Medical Assistant (Float Clinic)

Area of Focus: This is a PRN position that will service all areas of the Clinic and provide coverage as needed.
Performs a variety of patient care activities in accordance with established standards and practice of CoH. Delivers compassionate care to patients by assisting with clinical tasks, preforming support services for clinical staff and providing direct interaction with patients and their caregivers.
Collects vital signs, blood sugars, pain levels, and obtains other patient information as directed by the licensed nurse, advanced practitioner or physician. Reports to the licensed nurse, physician or advanced practitioner any change in patient status, patient behavior, or unusual findings of data or incidents that might have occurred. Documents accurately in the medical record the care that was delivered, activities completed, and other data that is collected for the patient.
Provides direct personal attention to patients and caregivers in an effort to create a positive, caring experience.
Answer phones courteously and triage phone calls, make clinic pre-appointment reminder calls to patients and maintain supplies needed for effective operations of the department.
Assist clinical team members with procedures, testing and gathering patient information in an integrative, cooperative manner. Assists in initiating prior authorizations, appeals process, and data collection.
Provides support to nursing staff and other personnel in the daily activities of the unit and during emergency situations. Reports any information regarding patient status or activities to the licensed nurse.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience Required
2 years prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
Accustomed to being flexible, reliable, and self-motivated
Excellent organizational skills and effective oral written communication skills
Computer and typing skills required
Experience with electronic medical records preferred
Required Licensure & Certifications
Must be a registered or certified Medical Assit
Current BLS and CPR required
Phlebotomy experience required

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $17.20 - $26.55 / hour
The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
