- K-12 teaching experience
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- English as a new language (ENL), second language (SLA), English as a foreign language (EFL) teaching experience
- Expertise in at least one area of linguistics: morphology and syntax, phonetics and phonology, sociolinguistics, multilingualism and/or indigenous/minority languages/dialects in the US.
- Record of scholarship, including publication and/or presentation in primary area(s) of scholarship
- Record of or potential for external funding
- Record of building successful partnerships with K-12 schools
- Expertise in qualitative research methods
