The TAP initiative ensures that the Office of Philanthropy is poised to move quickly, effectively and efficiently to maximize opportunities on behalf of City of Hope.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Finance Administration, performing a variety of advancement, financial, operational, and administrative duties, and analysis functions in support of the day-to-day operations for the Philanthropy Group. Assists in resolving problems that have a significant impact on the overall goals for the City of Hope (COH) and the group. Has the ability to work independently and in groups and ensures the integrity of financial related reports and trends.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Contribute to the development and administration of all aspects of the annual operating and capital expenditure budgets, and all annual fundraising goals and revenue projections within Philanthropy. Coordinate budget preparation for Philanthropy; consult with appropriate personnel to determine policies guidelines and program changes; prepare and distribute budget and financial operations information.
  • Contribute to the monthly financial closing to produce accurate MTD, YTD revenue and expense reports.
  • Active participant with Revenue and Expense Forecasts along with the appropriate charts and presentations suitable for presentation to the entire Office of Philanthropy and City of Hope Executive Financial Management.
  • Participate in the monthly revenue and expense discussion with each department leader to ensure revenue forecasts are accurate and all expenses are accurately booked into the correct accounts. Document all budget & expenditure variances for each program as specified by the Finance Department.
  • Maintain finance department queries on fundraising system; prepare and maintain detail transaction reports for private support; prepare monthly presentations; prepare heavy fluctuation analyses for the current year and prior two years; follow and maintain internal reconciliation procedures between CASE, GAAP, and/or other performance reporting methodologies.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly and annual trend reports for prior, current and future years using advanced statistical and modeling techniques; prepare and maintain customized financial reports for management.
  • Develop and maintain formal reporting functions including presentations for the board of directors and the fundraising and communications committees.
  • Gather and maintain data to complete various benchmarking surveys. Scope business needs and either independently develop adhoc queries in AccessHope or test ITS delivered queries in PeopleSoft in order to retrieve aggregated data needed for reports and analysis. Issue campaign codes for events and maintain campaign code listing. Assist in the preparation of presentations when necessary.
  • Apply and enforce Philanthropy and External Relations policies and guidelines associated with budget and fiscal operations.
  • Issue funding interest designation codes, assist with managing fundraising hierarchies, and review general ledger setup and maintenance on fundraising system; issue and maintain campaign names.
  • Perform duties and maintain skills related to knowing campus systems for purchasing, accounts payable, travel, credit cards, and contract management.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • 5+ years related experience in financial analysis and annual budget reporting in applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), personnel practices, and operational support. Proven experience in financial reporting.
  • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality. Use computerized management information systems, spreadsheet, graphics and database applications.
  • Experience in fundraising or events services.
  • Expertise in Management and/or Finance

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $41.92 - $64.97 / hour
