The laboratories of Dr. Jeff Perry, a Structural Biologist, and Dr. Javier Gordon Ogembo, a Vaccinologist, are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to fill a postdoctoral position in the field of gamma-herpesvirus structural biology. The goal of the postdoctoral candidate will be to elucidate the mechanisms of gamma-herpesvirus entry and contribute to vaccine development. As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Utilize FDA-approved facilities for producing investigational drugs and biologics for clinical trials.
  • Work in facilities designed to meet rigorous regulatory standards, ensuring safety and efficacy of developed products.
  • Seize the opportunity as a postdoctoral fellow to collaborate with leading experts, contributing to cutting-edge research in viral entry, oncovirology, and vaccinology.

Your qualifications should include:

  • A Ph.D., Ph.D/DVM, or Ph.D/MD degree(s) in a related field and a strong background in protein biochemistry and structural biology.
  • Cell culture and aseptic technique: culture, handling, and maintenance of bacterial and mammalian cells (multiple cell lines), cryopreservation.
  • Protein production and structural assays: protein expression in different cell systems and purification; protein crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy; circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, isothermal calorimetry and/or surface plasmon resonance.
  • Immuno-assays: western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence assay, immuno-histochemistry.
  • Molecular cloning and basic DNA/RNA assays: molecular cloning, DNA/RNA isolation from cells, conventional PCR.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in virology, cancer vaccines, T-cell immunology, and/or the use of animal models will be considered as a plus.
  • Virology assays: virus production and titration, virus neutralization, plaque assays.
  • Advanced DNA/RNA assays: DNA isolation from tissue, qPCR, RT-qPCR.
  • Pre-clinical animal models: animal handling (mice and/or rats), immunization, blood collection, tissue processing.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $31.00 - $34.23 / hour
