Dr. David Chen's lab in Systems Biology is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Scientist or Postdoctoral Fellow to join their dynamic team. Dr. Chen is a distinguished leader serving as the Director of the Division of Epigenetics and Transcriptional Engineering at City of Hope Cancer Center. His lab investigates epigenetic mechanisms of drug resistance and identifies therapeutic targets in various cancers through cutting-edge techniques such as high-throughput genetic screens (recent papers: PMID: 38316881, 38394203, 37075745, 36563143, 34373586, 34210975).

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Be involved in cancer genetics and epigenetics studies.
  • Contribute to wet-lab (experimental) and/or dry-lab (computational) research.
  • Utilize the cutting-edge CRISPR gene editing and screen approach to dissect cancer mechanisms.
  • Combine multiomics tools (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, single-cell sequencing, mass spectometry, etc.) and 3D protein structural analyses.
  • Perform in vitro (cell culture) and in vivo (xenograft and PDX) cancer disease modeling.
  • Participate in novel technology development, including CRISPR gene tiling, single-cell CRISPR screens, etc.
  • Focus on cancer types including leukemia, lymphoma, GBM, breast cancer, HCC, Ewing sarcoma, etc.
  • Collaborate with other researchers in the lab for multiple publications.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Postdoctoral Fellow: A Ph.D. degree in life or biomedical sciences or a related discipline - cancer biology, structural biology, computational biology, bioinformatics, etc.
  • Staff Scientist: The Staff Scientist must possess, at a minimum, the U.S. equivalent Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline, and will often have a Ph.D. or other doctoral level degree.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ph.D. and experience in bioinformatics, transcriptomic, proteomic, epigenetic, molecular dynamic, protein purification, compound screen, molecular cloning, or protein structural data analysis.
