Job Description

Job Summary:
This position will be leading the team responsible for overseeing co-curricular student leadership development programs geared primarily towards Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) undergraduate students. That team consists of 2-3 full-time professional Leadership Programs Managers and 16-20 part-time undergraduate Leadership Program Interns. The Assistant Director will provide oversight, strategic vision, and support for the growing Business Badger Badge program under the umbrella of the Accenture Leadership Center. This program offers students the opportunity to earn up to five leadership badges focused on different aspects of the UW-Madison Leadership Framework. The Leadership Program Managers & Leadership Program Interns collaboratively provide the components of these badges, which include workshops, case competitions, conferences, and other large-scale student leadership development events.

This position will also support the engagement and leadership development of WSB students beyond the Business Badger Badge program. This includes oversight of 60+ Student Organizations, collaborative work with the Undergraduate Business Council (the student government body for WSB undergraduates), and other student engagement & recognition programs. All these efforts have a strong emphasis on inclusive leadership and helping to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all.

Responsibilities:
Develops, evaluates and implements programs and recruitment efforts in order to support student success in various student affairs. Assists in the development of internal partnerships in support of program events and engages students related to advising, student conduct, or advocacy.
30% Develops, plans, and directs staff implementation and operational work plans of one or multiple student affairs programs, activities, experiences, and/or services
10% Evaluates and promotes short and long term existing strategies and makes recommendations for program enhancement
30% Contributes to the design of student-focused programs and associated resources and materials to promote new and ongoing educational initiatives
10% Answers questions and provides information regarding student affairs resources to individual students and groups
10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
5% Identifies, develops, and facilitates unit staff training opportunities
5% May monitor the program budget and approve expenditures

Required:
- 2 years professional experience in Higher Education or related fields

Preferred:
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of student development
- Organizational perspectives of inclusion work, and an understanding of the complexities of inter/intra cultural interaction
- Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills
- Experience with supervising student and/or professional staff
- Experience with project management and/or event planning
- Ability to develop and deliver educational programming to students, with a focus on working in a multi-cultural environment
- Experience working with and advocating for people who have been traditionally underrepresented in business
