NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

Salary Range:

$221,000 - $375,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Director of the RF & Electronic Systems Center (Organization 5300) has lab-wide, program and line management responsibilities. The Director is the Program Director for the approximately $84M/yr Surveillance and Reconnaissance program within the National Security Programs portfolio and reports directly to the National Security Programs Associate Labs Director (NSP ALD) of Division 5000. As Program Director, you will be responsible for the planning, development, execution and management of a number of projects for an array of Strategic Partnership Program (SSP) sponsors involving the application of multiple technologies from across the Laboratories in the areas of electronics systems designs, RF Superiority, Synthetic Aperture Radars (SARs), Tagging Tracking and Locating (TTL), sensing, communications, and related fields. Program development and work selection emphasizes a close collaborative partnership between Nuclear Deterrence-supporting technology and SSP work within the Surveillance and Reconnaissance program.

The RF & Electronic Systems Center Director is also the senior line management position for Center 5300 and is responsible for all operational matters including personnel management, safety, security, quality, facilities, Center investments and capital equipment. Center 5300 contains approximately 470 employees with approximately half of the Center’s $271M costs associated with electronic systems designs for the Nuclear Deterrence program and the half associated with the Surveillance and Reconnaissance program and other SPP. Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) is also part of the Center’s work and this is expected to increase in the future.

On any given day, you may be called on to:• Ensure that Center 5300 personnel work safely and securely.• Steward Center 5300 workforce, facility, equipment, and process capabilities to meet today’s mission requirements and provide a great foundation for the future.• Plan, execute, and develop the Surveillance and Reconnaissance program utilizing all appropriate and applicable resources from around the Laboratories in pursuit of mission requirements.• Provide leadership for the nation, Labs, and staff in the areas of electronics systems designs, RF Superiority, Synthetic Aperture Radars (SARs), Tagging Tracking and Locating (TTL), Navigation, Pointing, and Control (NPC), Electronic Warfare (EW), RF sensing, RF communications, and related fields.• As an active member of the Nuclear Deterrence governance Director community, provide product realization strategic direction.• Oversee the execution of nuclear deterrence product realization activities for the 5300 components in support of the modernization programs (in close coordination with the production agency).• Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained and that objectives and Sandia and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) requirements are effectively met.• Assist the National Security Programs Associate Labs Director and your fellow Division 5000 Center Directors in the stewardship and development of Division 5000.• Effectively participate and make contributions to all of the Laboratories as required as part of the Laboratory’s cadre of Directors.• Perform other duties as may be specified by the National Security Programs Associate Labs Director.

Qualifications We Require:

• Bachelor's and Master's degree in a relevant STEM discipline.• Twelve or more years of experience, including eight or more years of managerial experience.• Active and ability to maintain a required US DOE Q security clearance.• Ability to obtain SCI access and additional high security clearances that will require counter-intelligence scope polygraph examinations.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
