Job Description

Job Summary:
This position provides audiovisual (AV), sound, and lighting coordination and support (to include operating, monitoring, maintaining, converting, and designing) to in-person, virtual, and hybrid meetings, conferences, events, and live performances at the Pyle Center, Memorial Union, and other locations for events conducted by the Wisconsin Union and other campus partners. The AV Supervisor will take the lead, with the assistance of others within the Wisconsin Union Event Operations Team, to install, wire, test, and maintain the audio reinforcement, data projection, video production, room control, and transmission systems used in support of event operations. The AV Supervisor will spend time coordinating, setting up, planning, scheduling, troubleshooting, maintaining, and tracking inventory of multimedia equipment; will be proactive in monitoring and evaluating AV services to external and internal customers; and will recommend any necessary changes to management. The AV Supervisor will guide the daily activities of the AV staff by assigning work, evaluating performance, resolving or escalating personnel issues, and making recommendations on potential new hires after assessing the qualifications of applicants.

Responsibilities:
Designs, installs, and implements large, highly complex, and non-routine audio-visual (AV) hardware, software, and associated systems. Leads the preparation of rooms, venues, or events with proper AV equipment to ensure proper functionality and security according to client requests and business needs. Develops and schedules operational work plans for AV Technicians and functional area staff to ensure that departmental standards and expectations are realized.
15% Sets up, installs, upgrades, configures, troubleshoots, adjusts, and connects complex audio, visual, lighting, computer equipment, and peripherals in various environments for events, academic instruction, or meetings according to established requirements and requests
10% Assists with the development and scheduling of operational work plans for performance checks and lights adjustments
15% Schedules logistics and secures resources for new installations of audio-visual equipment
15% Tests, maintains, and provides recommendations for alternative hardware and software options to ensure proper functionality, security requirements, and business needs are met
10% Provides consultation and answers questions regarding AV equipment and functionality to individuals and groups based on set materials and standards
10% Guides the daily activities of an information technology staff by assigning work, evaluating performance, and developing documentation
5% Resolves or escalates personnel issues, makes recommendations on applicants after assessing the qualifications of potential new hires, and makes recommendations on the selection of applicants
5% Serves as the initial supervisor point of contact on escalated customer services requests or production issues, either resolving or escalating the requests or issues
5% Prepares and distributes reports on assigned unit's performance, recommending adjustments to operational procedures to improve the effectiveness of programs and services
10% Provides Audio-Visual oversight at the Wisconsin School of Business (Grainger Hall).

Education:
Preferred
Associate's Degree

Qualifications:
* Two or more years of experience in an event-based audiovisual field required
* Supervisory experience leading and guiding staff required
* Ability to read electronic schematics and mechanical drawings required
* Ability to program, install, and integrate various multimedia components required
