Summary
The Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy is looking for a Career Development Specialist to join our Career Services (CS) team. You will support the career counseling and programming effort for our approximately 165 undergraduate (BA) students, with an additional focus on BA employer outreach/engagement. You will report to the Assistant Director, Undergraduate Career Services.


Graduates of the Ford School work at all levels of government, international agencies, non-profits, consulting and the private sector. Career Services provides high quality information, connections, strategy and support to assist students in their career development, working closely with both employers and alumni to develop strong recruiting relationships between the Ford School and leading policy organizations.

Responsibilities*
Career Advising/Programming

Provide one-on-one and group career advising to public policy undergraduate students
Develop programs and initiatives designed to support underrepresented students
Develop programs and resources designed to support first generation students
Facilitate/develop Career Development Workshops & Job Search Groups that address students' interests and professional skill development needs
Employer Outreach/Engagement

In collaboration with Asst. Director, Employer Relations cultivate and manage relationships with key BA employers
Serve as contact for alumni and employer partners seeking to hire BA students
Track and analyze employer opportunities for BA students
Remain current on employer/recruiting trends for undergraduate public policy students and awareness of the employer trends/visa regulations for international students
Communication/Student Engagement

Create electronic, print, and video resources and messaging to promote student engagement with the office, including managing BA Career Services newsletter
Engage with Ford School student organization leadership of historically underrepresented students.
Collaborate with Research Centers, Alumni Relations, Marketing & Communications, Student & Academic Services on projects/initiatives
Coordinate logistics of CS career programs and off-campus events (including DC and Detroit career exploration trips, virtual career panels/sessions)Track and analyze student engagement with career services and student career interests to inform strategic planning
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of professional experience in advising, career services, customer service, or workforce development
Ability to multitask, and independently manage projects/initiatives
Demonstrated experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders (i.e. students, staff, faculty, alumni, employers, vendors).
Demonstrated awareness and implementation of best practices in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, and working with diverse individuals.
