Specialist, I-9 Auditor (Hourly)

Job Description Summary:

Verifying the proper completion of I-9 forms of active and former employees. This includes the verification of employee identity and employment eligibility, and maintaining accurate records.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks
  • Audits I-9 completions of active and former employees

  • Verify identity and employment authorization documents provided by employees

  • Research and respond to inquiries from other departments regarding the completion of Form I-9sMaintain records of completed Form I-9s in an organized manner

  • Provide guidance to managers on best practices for completing I-9 forms

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on changes in immigration laws

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding I-9s.

Knowledge
  • Processes, practices, and procedures related to the departmental work being done.

Skills
  • Maintaining an established work schedule.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Technology Skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications and student information and database systems.

Required Work Experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with employee records

Preferred Work Experience
  • 3 years working in a Human Resources Office

Required Education
  • Associates Degree or equivalent

Preferred Education
  • Bachelor's degree

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.

Safety
  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

$27.00/hour
