Job Description

The Director of Teacher Pathway Programs supports Teachers College efforts to recruit future educators by collaborating with Indiana high schools to offer dual credit courses in the education professions pathway. The Director oversees the Cardinal Pathways to Teaching program, which provides a direct on ramp to the teaching profession for high school students. The Director works closely with The Pursuit Institute, school systems, sponsors, and employers to maintain the Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program and support student progress.

Job Function:

The Director of Teacher Pathway Programs supports Teachers College efforts to recruit future educators by collaborating with Indiana high schools to offer dual credit courses in the education professions pathway. The Director oversees the Cardinal Pathways to Teaching program, which provides a direct on ramp to the teaching profession for high school students. The Director works closely with The Pursuit Institute, school systems, sponsors, and employers to maintain the Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program and support student progress.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a relevant field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Education:

Masters in Education or a relevant field from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience:

  • Three years high school teaching experience
  • Two years facilitating partnerships

Preferred Experience:

Experience working with a range of educational stakeholders within the P-12 continuum, university, and community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Indiana schools to administer on-site and online dual credit for Early Childhood Education and Education Professions Next Level Programs of Study.
  • Coordinate the community of practice meetings and ongoing implementation of the Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program in collaboration with The Pursuit Institute, Region 5 Workforce Board, and other community partners.
  • Develop and expand the Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship in collaboration with the sponsor and employer partners.
  • Serve as the Program Manager for the Indiana Department of Education Early Childhood Registered Apprenticeship Mentor Support Program.
  • Recruit high schools to offer dual credit through Ball State University.
  • Attend college and career fairs at partner high schools to market teacher pathway opportunities to prospective students and families.
  • Develop print and digital marketing materials in collaboration with University Marketing Services to recruit potential students.
  • Communicate with teachers who are mentoring apprentices and teacher residents about professional development opportunities.
  • Map secondary and postsecondary courses for partner high schools to provide recommendations for dual credit program offerings
  • Collaborate with Dual Credit and Online Learning team at Ball State to register dual credit students for pathway courses and monitor student progress.
  • Advocate for support for teacher recruitment and retention efforts with local and state education leaders.
  • Serve as the Ball State University contact for related programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
