About This Role:

The Academic IT Director develops and directs the implementation of strategic information technology plans for the College of Agriculture. The incumbent manages and mentors IT personnel resources (including full-time IT professionals or technicians, part-time hourly and graduate student employees) and provides leadership for all college technical systems, data systems and college/departmental applications. This position is responsible for ensuring the college’s technical operations and security posture are aligned and comply with IT policies, procedures and standards set forth by the state, university and the college. The incumbent is responsible for providing IT leadership and oversight within the college and associated units and supports college strategic plans through a future-forward approach to technology resources.

Strategic IT planning and implementation - Lead college and departmental technology strategic and operational planning aligned with university technology strategic plans, priorities, and policies.
IT leadership and supervision - Manage departmental level systems and environments and provide technical resourcing in the governance of collaborative or shared environments. Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision and development.
Comprehensive IT management - Ensure college compliance with all university and college IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security and disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provisioning.
Fiscal management - Manage financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and five to 10 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
Experience in technology troubleshooting, assisting, and training.
Experience administering servers in small to medium sized server environments.
Experience managing IT staff members responsible for providing front-line support for hardware and departmental IT systems.
Experience conducting and directing research into IT issues and products.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Experience building business case scenarios and working with technology allocation and budgets.
Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.


Other Requirements:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Ability to transport 20-25 lbs.
Ability to be "on-call as needed"
