What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Year-Round Technical Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team!

The Electrical Sciences department is seeking a student intern to support research and qualification work on a year round basis.

What you would be doing during an average day in this position.

  • Working in the laboratory with a very experienced team of professionals.
  • Supporting the setup and execution of experiments.
  • Supporting the general operations and execution of work.
  • Helping to ensure the safety and security of the people and the work.
  • Learning to operate and utilize instrumentation and diagnostics.
  • Work within a dynamic team environment.

Salary Range:

At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.8/4.0
  • On track to obtain an electrical engineering degree
  • Demonstrated course work in ordinary differential equations, physics, circuits and controls
  • Experience with common electrical engineering instrumentation and diagnostics such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
  • Experience with circuit modeling and controls software
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Python
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work in the laboratory environment that includes high voltage, pressure, laser, non-ionizing radiation, chemical, and mechanical hazards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to coordinate between Sandia and university partners.
  • Excellent written- and verbal-communications skills, including the development and delivery of presentations and reports.

Security Clearance:
