What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Computing Infrastructure Engineer to perform the full lifecycle management (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, integration and maintenance) of multi-user information systems including servers, storage, virtual and cloud infrastructures, and associated components and subsystems.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Maintain the integrity of servers and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security.
- Coordinate and interface with customers, suppliers, and domain experts such as networking, software, and desktop personnel.
- Apply systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable engineering and life cycle management techniques and processes to deliver integrated information systems hardware for mission-enabled or direct mission deployment and production.
- Perform hardware systems analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and recovery, disaster recovery, software installations, systems OS and software applications upgrades and security patches, performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, maintenance of user accounts, and training users.
- Performs technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
Due to the nature of the work, this candidate must work onsite.
Salary Range:
$81,900 - $185,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor degree in relevant field, plus 5 years experience
- IT Leadership experience working with teams and individuals, demonstrated aptitude to work across organizations with partners and teams to obtain direction and solution.
- Active CompTIA Security + Certificate.
- Extensive knowledge of HAL, SFN, and DOE-IN accredited Networks.
- Experience supporting Windows or Linux computers and servers.
- Experience using Active Directory, OU permissions and GPO creation.
- Wide-ranging knowledge of computing hardware peripherals and their allowed use on Top Secret Computer systems.
- Knowledge of VMWare and VDI infrastructure.
- Experience working with VOIP systems on SCI networks.
- Knowledge of purchasing and procurement in a Top Secret environment.
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance, or DoD TS equivalent security clearance and the ability obtain and maintain SCI access, which may require a polygraph.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Knowledge of Sandia FIE Operations
- Ability to work with other Departments, Labs and Govt agencies to meet mission goals.
- Project leadership and Project Management experience in environments working with peers as well as subordinates.
- Systems administration experience
- Experience with RHEL Operating System
- Familiarity with Sandia’s SRN, SCN, SFN and SON networks
- Strong working relationship with DOE oversight (DOE/IN, Sandia Field Office, NNSA, Office of Enforcement)
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Deployment Toolkit
- Familiarity with DOE Order 470.4 (IOSC attachment) & 470.6 (Technical Security Program)
- Experience responding to investigative and audit compliance requests.
- Experience providing training regarding programs and systems in which you are considered an SME
- Experience with Emergency Management
About Our Team:
The Field Intelligence Element (FIE) performs high-impact, national security work for a broad segment of the Intelligence Community (IC). As part of the FIE Operations team, the Information Technology Services department enables the reliable and timely delivery of secure IT products and services to satisfy the unique requirements of the IC. Our IT products and services include servers, virtual environments, desktops, networking, storage and applications.
Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
