Summary
The Guan Laboratory is seeking one Research Technician to carry out routine laboratory procedures. The lab is focused on the impacts of environmental factors and genetic background on physiological rhythms. We use a variety of biochemical, molecular, genomic, and functional approaches to investigate these effects. Research Assistant will be responsible to carry out the planned experiments, collect data and prepare for presentations. We are looking for fresh graduated undergraduates, who would like to gain more research experiences for future graduate school.
Job Duties
- Designs and conducts research experiments.
- Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
- Documents and interprets results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
- May develop and modify computer programs.
- Selects and determines appropriate research procedures.
- Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
- May assign activities to less experienced research staff.
- Documents results and prepares them for presentations.
- Designs and conducts research experiments.
- Summarizes research findings for manuscripts to publish in research journals.
- Prepares buffers and reagents for laboratory operations.
- Manages cryotanks and refrigerators.
- Performs RNA/DNA extraction and tissue culture, PCR, Western blotting, and other routine lab assays.
- Performs histological procedures: tissue preparation, slide preparation, IHC/IF staining.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master\'s degree in basic science or in a related field.
- The candidate should be familiar with the basic biological laboratory techniques, data organization, lab maintenance.
