Summary
Works under general supervision to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care and education, staff development, and administration.
This position will work nights 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., two nights a week and may include weekends on a rotating scheduled. Will be compensated for evening and weekend shifts.
Job Duties
- Sets up, operates, and monitors sophisticated medical equipment including computerized polygraph, analog polygraph, oximeters, respiratory plethysmography units, positive air pressure machines, tumescence monitors, and laboratory computer systems.
- Performs sleep monitoring on individuals with suspected sleep pathophysiologies.
- Attaches necessary devices for monitoring EEG, EOG, EMG, EKG, oximetry, thoracic- and abdominal effort, nasal/oral airflow and nasal/oral pressure.
- Performs both split-night and full-night continuous positive airway pressure treatment as needed and titrates both CPAP and BiPAP pressure to reduce airway occlusion and attain airway patency.
- Administers questionnaires and performance tests.
- Scores polysomnographic recordings for sleep stages, sleep apnea, periodic limb movement disorder, and other sleep-related parameters as indicated by the study.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Credentialed by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)through American Association of Respiratory Care.
