Job Description
The Time Resolved Research Group in the X-ray Science Division invites applications for a Postdoctoral Appointee position. The role focuses on enhancing time-resolved X-ray absorption (XAS) spectroscopy capabilities and is part of a collaborative project between the X-ray Science Division and the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division.
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to develop and enhance time-resolved total fluorescence detected XAS techniques and high-energy resolution fluorescence detected XAS techniques. You will apply ultrafast X-ray and laser spectroscopies to investigate electronic and structural evolutions during photochemical and photocatalytic reactions.
Position Requirements
Required knowledge, skills, and experience:
- A PhD degree completed in the last 0-5 years in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
- Experienced with time-resolved physical chemistry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and work in an interdisciplinary research team setting
- Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork
Desired knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Working experience with ultrafast lasers or experience with synchrotron X-ray experiments
- Experience with instrumentation development
