College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
Duties will be performed in a clinic setting. These include, but are not limited to, assessment and treatment of routine primary care and specialized care needs of HIV-infected individuals; provide health maintenance and disease prevention services including screening tests, immunizations, PAPs and management of acute and chronic co-morbid conditions; follow the latest guidelines in treating HIV/AIDS from HRSA; provide accurate/timely documentation to support reporting requirements of state and federal administrative programs; participate in quality assurance review and improvement projects.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
CLINICAL CARE: Assist MD with clinical care. This includes screening tests, counseling, immunizations and chemoprophylactic regimens. Duties include assessment/treatment of HIV related problems, management of minor acute and chronic co-morbid conditions.
PATIENT CARE ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING: Provides care to HIV infected people in the ID clinic. Effectively and efficiently meets the health care needs of patients within the framework of the physician assistant role and consistent with his/her level of practice. Assists in the implementation of patient care plans. Provides health maintenance/disease prevention through use of the Public Health Service guidelines for prophylactic primary.
OTHER DUTIES: Participate in quality assurance review and assessment and continuous quality improvement program as requested and/or mandated by federal, state, or institutional directives. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body and currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of GA by the Georgia Board of Nursing Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required. Current American Heart Association, Basic Life Support (BLS). Must be fully credentialed by the credentialing office to work.
OR Graduated from an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Licensure to practice medicine through the GA Composite Medical Board Must maintain status as a certified PA, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education and re-certification. Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required. Current American Heart Association, Basic Life Support (BLS). Must be fully credentialed by the credentialing office to work.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
**This position is 100% grant funded**
Pay Band: B16
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
