The Field Intelligence Element (FIE) Information Technology Infrastructure team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced networking Solutions Architect; who will provide technical leadership for the networking team. The right person will have strong networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP), video conferencing and VoIP experience, and experience configuring and deploying a variety of networking equipment. You will be responsible for researching, designing, and implementing classified networking systems to enable Sandia’s intelligence mission.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be a key part of the DOE enterprise network team providing architecture expertise for next generation design of our Upper Level LAN (ULL) networks.
- Provide advanced network architecture design guidance and support for Other Government Agencies (OGA's) working with Sandia.
- Determine future requirements to provide high reliability and performance for scientific application high-bandwidth needs.
- Ensure that IT networks are secured and accredited.
- Purchase, track, and maintain IT-related property.
- Coach and mentor network engineers on Sandia's ULL network implementation.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to support general operations of the FIE IT infrastructure.
- Evaluates and recommends hardware and software technologies to create new networks or improve existing networks.
- Create, maintain, and document processes and procedures.
Due to the nature of the work, this candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$109,300 - $217,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor's degree in Computing, Engineering, or Science discipline, plus 5 years related experience supporting and maintaining advanced network systems; OR (AS + 9 or no degree + 13)
- Extensive experience with Cisco and Arista routers and switches, and IP fabric architectures.
- Experience with network protocols, including routing protocols (such as border gateway protocol, EIGRP, or STP, equal-cost multipath routing) and multimedia protocols (such as session initiation protocols and multicast).
- Experience implementing and utilizing network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
- Expert knowledge of HAL network architecture.
- Active DOE Q and ability to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Current member of DOE Routerhead network group.
- Ability to design, plan, and implement local and wide-area network systems.
- Assist in creating and validating system security plans.
- Advanced knowledge and expertise on classified network design, network encryption technologies, and network security.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills across all levels of an organization.
- The ability to implement and configure zone-based firewalls.
- Knowledge of network redundancy and DR architectures including Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation, dual power feeds, and recovery of systems.
- The ability and willingness to learn additional operating systems and networking environments.
- Current network certification(s) including, but not limited to: Security+, CCNA, CCNP, COMSEC, or equivalent certifications.
About Our Team:
The Field Intelligence Element (FIE) performs high-impact, national security work for a broad segment of the Intelligence Community (IC). As part of the FIE Operations team, the Information Technology Infrastructure department enables the reliable and timely delivery of secure IT products and services to satisfy the unique requirements of the IC. Our IT products and services include servers, virtual environments, desktops, networking, storage, and applications.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
