Job Description

Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill 1 part-time UHR Web Support Assistant position for the University Human Resources department at Oregon State University (OSU). Available hours and length of appointment are dependent on work study funding. University Human Resources is looking for a student who is ready to practice and build on their web design, OSU Drupal, and CMS skills while assisting in maintenance of the UHR web presence
This role would be suited for students with knowledge or interest in web communication, user experience, cognitive psychology, digital marketing, and public relations. Prior website management experience is not required.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a willingness to learn, collaborate, and ask questions.

You will be assisted and supported by the UHR Web Strategist in this role.
Position Duties
Web Content Management 60%
Work with the Web Strategist to plan and create website architecture and content outlines.
Update web content through Drupal CMS.
Utilize web governance tools, such as Monsido, to identify and evaluate accessibility issues on the UHR website.
Web Accessibility 30%
Ensure website content complies with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.
Follow web best practices for style, accessibility, optimized images/video.
Follow OSU brand guidelines.
Troubleshoot issues including broken links, formatting inconsistencies, or technical problems, and provide recommendations for resolution.
Provide recommendations and guidance for improving overall user experience for individuals with disabilities, including alternative text for images, proper use of headings, and accessible forms.
Assist with creating training materials and resources for UHR staff on web accessibility best practices and tools.
General Duties: 10%
Attend regular team meetings, participate in ongoing training, and collaborate with peers to accomplish tasks effectively.
Contribute to the development of new processes, tools, or strategies for enhancing the overall quality and efficiency of the UHR website.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the UHR website redesign project.

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Web Content Management: Demonstrable experience with web content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal or other similar tools.
Web languages: Familiarity with HTML and CSS how they are used in web content management systems.
Accessibility: Awareness of WCAG accessibility guidelines and other digital accessibility best practices.
Understanding of digital media, marketing, SEO, and web communications
Understanding of user experience best practices and human computer interaction
Experience working in a collaborative environment
Experience managing and prioritizing multiple tasks
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
