Job Description
Summary
otivated research fellow interested in studying skeletal biology, particularly stem/progenitor cells responsible for bone/tendon development, regeneration, and bone marrow HSC microenvironment.
The laboratory utilizes multiple approaches including genetic mouse models and advanced intravital imaging technology to track and define stem/progenitor cells and their microenvironmental cells. New and on-going projects funded by NIH focus on the fundamental questions about the identity, heterogeneity, and molecular characteristics of stem/progenitor cells in the skeletal tissues in vivo and cell-autonomous and microevironmental mechanisms that regulate stem cell function in aging and bone diseases. The position will provide an ample opportunity to work at the interface of basic stem cell research, new scRNA-seq analysis, and cutting-edge imaging technology in a collaborative and stimulating environment.
The ideal candidates should have strong foundation and publication in stem cell and developmental biology and will independently design and conduct experiments and analyze results under the guidance of the PI. The candidate also should have a strong interest in stem cell research and bone regeneration with experience in animal surgery, immunohistochemistry and imaging, and single-cell genomics.
Job Duties
- Designs and conducts new research with a focus on mechanisms of skeletal stem cell regulation in physiological conditions.
- Develops and manages necessary mouse models and establish animal protocols and experiments for in vivo imaging, stem cell isolation and sorting, and single cell analysis.
- Demonstrates contribution to team-oriented tasks and projects in the lab and NIH-supported long-term research projects.
- Participates in the academic meetings of the laboratory, journal clubs and departmental seminars.
- Participates in the writing of postdoctoral fellowships, progress reports, and paper manuscripts and grant applications.
- Disseminates results in the form of publications and conference presentations.
- Documents, collects, compiles and analyzes information obtained from laboratory, shared facilities, and department.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- The position is most appropriate (but not limited to) for a recent MD or PhD seeking an intensive stem cell and musculoskeletal research prior to independent academic or industry career.
- Prior experience in mouse genetics and bone imaging, multi-color flow cytometry, and scRNA-Seq will be preferred.
