What You Will Achieve

As Global Close Accountant you will be responsible for the successful execution of Controllers - Global Accounting close-related tasks for legal entities within the Europe and AfMe regions, with the ultimate goal of delivering an accurate and on-time close period. The role will involve working independently and with others to prepare and submit the trial balance into Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Service (FCCS) in a timely manner. This role will require coordination with a number of business partners as well as colleagues in other F&GBS sub-towers responsible for close activities.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Responsible for the successful execution of close-related Global Accounting function tasks to ensure proper and timely submission of various legal entity trial balances into FCCS
  • Track and monitor completion of close tasks to ensure on-time submissions
  • Coordinate error clearing and root-cause analysis
  • Research differences between the ledger and FCCS
  • Submit trial balance and sales data
  • Perform foreign exchange revaluation
  • Prepare and distribute close communications to stakeholders
  • Support Manual Journal Entry Governance initiatives (Quality Review Program, MJE analysis & MyJournals support)
  • Maintain records and supporting files and documentation in an organized manner
  • Effectively communicate to peers and management with regards to work tasks and deadlines
  • Identify issues proactively and communicate to manager along with potential range of solutions
  • Ensure activities are performed to a high standard of operational excellence, established service level agreements and deadlines are met, and adhere to defined process and control requirements
  • Engage directly with all business partners on routine activities and deliverables; continue to develop relationships
  • Develop technical and business skills, ensuring effective and efficient use of time and competencies
  • Understand the functionality, interfaces and interdependencies of Pfizer’s financial processes and systems
  • Maintain complete and accurate work instructions and SOX related internal control documentation; Support the Internal and External audits and SOX compliance initiatives
  • Ensure strong commitment to the control environment through training and review to meet all control and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in Global Accounting initiatives including transformational projects as needed

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or other related field
  • 0-3 years of technical accounting experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, organizational skill, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems in an unstructured environment
  • Self-motivated, initiates tasks with little to no guidance or support
  • Excellent business acumen to develop effective strategic business partnership with key stakeholders
  • Intermediate SAP & FCCS experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral, written, and overall communication skills
  • Proficient business English language skills (written and verbal)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related accounting experience, along with understanding of managing multi-national accounting operations
  • Enterprise Resource Planning {e.g. SAP} system experience
  • System Application & Products and Hyperion Financial Management skills
  • Demonstrates problem solving and analytical skills
