Why Patients Need You
The Pfizer Oncology Research Unit in La Jolla is seeking a full-timeemployeetosupport the drug discovery process for innovative medicinestotreat cancer. The candidate willwork in the Sample Logistics laboratory in Discovery Technologies to manage receipt of research compounds, track compound inventory, utilize and maintain various robotic instruments and software, communicate with and advise assay scientists, and prepare compounds for distribution.
What You Will Achieve
The responsibilities rely on use of automated equipment integrated with specialized software that manages the compound workflow from order through delivery to the scientist. The candidate will be trained and expected to work independently on daily essential operations.
How You Will Achieve It:
- Workclosely with scientiststorequest, receive, prepare, and deliver DMSO-basedcompounds in agreed upon formatstoenable the performance of various downstream assays.
- Workprimarily with acousticbaseddispensing technologies and related liquid handling instrumentstodeliver accurate andhighquality nanoliter - microliter volumes in assay ready plates (ARPs) or near assay ready plates (nARPs).
- Be proficient in various laboratory-basedsoftware applicationsrequiredtoperform duties including but not limitedtocompound request, LIMS, integrated controlling software, independent instrument software, etc.
- Maintain, QC, and troubleshoot/repair laboratory instrument and related consumables and reagents.
- Prepare deliverables and ship items for externalworktoother sites and partners.
- Assist in the evaluation, acquisition, installation, and implementation of new laboratory instruments or software.
- Workindependently but also in a team environmenttomanage the delivery of requested itemstoa large customer user base in a timely manner.
Qualifications, Relevant Experience & Skills
Basic Qualifications
- Abachelor’sdegreein biochemistry, biology, bioengineering, chemistry, or other related field with 3+yearsin an industrial or academic pharmaceutical laboratory setting.
- Experience handling small molecule organic compounds, automated liquid handling systems, and scientific software applications/LIMS.
- Experience designing and programming workflows with acoustic dispensing technologies (Beckman ECHO or EDC ATS-100) as well as expertise with other liquid handling platforms such as Tecan, Agilent, Beckman, etc.
- Abilitytoproperly perform calculations of molarity and dilutions.
- Experience working with and validating various plate density types and formats such as 96, 384, and 1536 well plates.
- Strong organization skills with an emphasis on attentiontodetail toenable multitasking and scheduling ofmultiplerequests.
- Knowledge of general assay workflow and concepts toguide and suggest delivery optionstoscientists.
- Strongworkethic, self-motivation, fast learner, independent but team oriented, strong communication skills, and an abilitytoworkwith a broad range of personalities.
- Strong computer and software skillstoinclude but not limitedtobeinghighlyproficient with Microsoft Office andatleast one scientificbasedapplication such as Pipeline Pilot, Mosaic, Scigilian, and Activity Base.
- A desiretolearnthe drug discovery process and help enhance and optimize workflowstoenable improved efficiencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of compound registration and related processes
- Computer programming knowledge ishighlydesirable.
- Position will be 100% on site

Work Location Assignment:On Premise
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
