Job Description

Job Summary:
The Department of Real Estate & Urban Land Economics at the Wisconsin School of Business invites applications for tenure-track and tenured positions (Associate, or Full Professor) beginning in August 2025.

This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation, and Scholarly Excellence (RISE)-Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cluster Hire Initiative (https://rise.wisc.edu/rise-ai/). The successful candidate will hold a tenure home in the Department of Real Estate & Urban Land Economics while engaging in interdisciplinary collaborations with other departments, schools, and colleges across the University.

We are seeking a visionary leader whose expertise will drive the integration of AI into real estate finance and urban economics research and education. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced computational methodologies-such as machine learning, natural language processing, and data analytics-to develop and analyze complex datasets within real estate finance and urban spatial economics. We especially welcome AI-driven research in key areas such as real estate asset pricing, mortgage markets and mortgage-backed securities, residential and commercial real estate capital markets, spatial and urban economics, housing affordability and justice, environmental economics and sustainability, and urban housing policy. For instance, AI models may be employed to interpret zoning regulations and community planning documents using large language models (LLMs), offering a more nuanced understanding of regulatory impacts on urban development.
