Position Description:

The IRB Analyst will join the Human Subjects Protection Program Office (HSPPO) as a key player in reviewing human subject’s research protocols submitted to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). The IRB Analyst provides high quality support to the research community at the University of Louisville. This position supports the Institutional Review Board (IRB) by conducting reviews ofresearch submissions and educating researchers across the university on IRB/HSPPO policies and procedures. This position focuses heavily on ensuring human subjects research projects that are submitted to the IRB for review are in compliance with federal, state and local research regulations and policies. Utilizing excellent customer service and analytical skills, this individual will work with research investigators and research team members in processing IRB submissions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analysis of assigned IRB submissions (initial submissions, continuing reviews, amendments, etc.) to ensure accuracy of the information presented and ensuring local/state/federal requirements are met. Upon analysis, making preliminary determinations based on knowledge of human subjects' protection policies and regulations.

  • Providing researchers with customer-oriented support to assist in preparation of submissions to the IRB by offering training sessions and educational materials.

  • Providing administrative support to the HSPPO by assisting in drafting and developing internal and external documents and procedure information.

  • Providing administrative support to the UofL IRBs by conducting meeting preparatory tasks, following federal regulations for IRB meetings, documenting determinations and relaying determinations to research team members.

  • The IRB Analyst will have the opportunity to support research that will have a significant community and societal impact.

Candidates should demonstrate sound decision making and balanced judgment, along with the flexibility of thought and style necessary to maximize the benefit to University stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field

  • Experience working in an HSPP environment and interpreting regulations related to human subject's research.

  • Certified IRB Processional (CIP), Certified Clinical Research Profession (CCRP), or other human subjects research certification.

Target Compensation Maximum:

$77,600.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$51,700.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
