College/Department Information
Located conveniently in Augusta's downtown medical community, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home provides continuous professional nursing care to veterans of Georgia who have served in the armed forces during war times. The home is owned and funded by the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and operated through an interagency agreement with Augusta University. Through this association, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home is considered a leader in the area of geriatric educational training for Augusta University.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and participating in the delivery of patient care for an assigned unit or project ensuring compliance with physicians' orders, established health care policies and procedures, and/or research protocols and procedures. Possess knowledge regarding State, Federal, VA, and The Joint Commission guidelines governing long-term care. Responsible for supervising employees on a nursing unit. Ensures that Individualized quality resident care is provided for all residents by managing nursing staff assigned to designated nursing units. Participates on various committees as assigned. Communicates effectively with residents, family members, employees, and other health care providers. May serve as house supervisor during day shift Possess strong leadership skills and the ability to multi-task.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
EMERGENCY, LEADERSHIP AND LIAISON ROLE Responds to all emergency situations and assumes leadership role as necessary. Serve as liaison with Physicians and emergency personnel.
RELIEVER: Relieves other Nurse Managers and provides off-shift RN coverage when needed.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Participates with Nursing Administration in developing policies and procedures. Communicates information and changes in facility policies and procedures to staff.
RESIDENT CARE: Attend resident care conference weekly.as scheduled. Attending other meetings related to resident care as scheduled. Maintains status reports on residents and utilizes the information appropriately. Review all end of the month reports prior to submittal. Submits reports in a timely manner.
EMPLOYEE/STAFF: Completes Performance Appraisals on all employees assigned to a specific nursing unit as scheduled. Schedules monthly staff meetings to enhance communication and provide opportunities for input from staff members.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Georgia Registered Nursing License, and three years related clinical and/or management experience is required. BLS and AHA certification required.
OR
Associates degree from an accredited college or university with six years related clinical and/or management experience: Georgia Registered Nursing License. BLS and AHA certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university preferred.

Certifications/License
Active Georgia Licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B15
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.

If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage.
Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle.
For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
