Position Description:

The University of Louisville is hiring a supervisor for the Mediation Clinic during the Spring Semester 2025. The Mediation Clinic Supervisor (“Supervisor”) oversees the operations of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law’s Mediation Clinic (“Mediation Clinic”). The Mediation Clinic serves, at no cost, pro se, low-income litigants who have a case in any of the ten Jefferson County Family Courts. The Supervisor manages case intake, conflict checks, scheduling, class instruction, and the meditations themselves.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management of Mediation Clinic’s case intake and scheduling, including performing conflict checks and preliminary case evaluation.

  • Scheduling student office hours.

  • Developing learning materials for students enrolled in the Mediation Clinic course.

  • Responding to phone calls and emails regarding current and potential cases.

  • Knowledge of the Law School’s policies and procedures, including academic requirements for successful participation in the Clinic.

  • Participate in professional organizations and trainings to improve job performance.

  • Serving as a liaison between the Mediation Clinic and Jefferson County Family Court.

  • Requires occasional travel to other university buildings and the Jefferson County District and Circuit courthouses.

Minimum Requirements:

A successful applicant must have a JD, completed mediation training that includes specific issues related to family law, and mediation and supervision experience.
