Job Description

The Department of Educational Psychology in the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma (OU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenure-eligible Associate Professor of Special Education.

The University of Oklahoma was established in 1890 and is the flagship public research university in the state of Oklahoma (Carnegie Classification R1: highest research activity), with over 30,000 students and more than 2,700 full-time faculty members offering nearly 500 different graduate and undergraduate degree programs on three campuses (Norman, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa).

The Department of Educational Psychology is housed within the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education. The department includes four program areas: (a) Professional Counseling, (b) Learning Experience Design and Technology, (c) Science of Psychology, Data, and Research in Education, and (d) Special Education. Within special education, we offer an undergraduate program that prepares pre-service educators, a master’s program with three foci area (applied behavior analysis, interventionist, and transition), and a doctoral program.

We seek candidates with expertise [broadly], who are committed to enhancing the outcomes of children, adolescents, and young adults with disabilities. The successful candidates will engage in an impactful research agenda that provides knowledge to the field and participate in generating external research funding. In addition, the candidate will advise and mentor graduate students; direct doctoral dissertations and serve on committees; and provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community. Teaching will consist of required and elective courses at the undergraduate program (face-to-face format), graduate program (synchronous online and blended format), and doctoral program (face-to-face and synchronous online).

Required Qualifications

·         Earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field by August 1, 2025.

·         Evidence of scholarly activity, such as publications in academic journals and presentations at national conferences.

·         Minimum of 2 years of instructional experience working with PK-12 students with disabilities.

·         Evidence of scholarly and external funding potential.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Ability to teach courses in reading and/or behavior analysis

·         Board Certified Behavior Analyst

·         Demonstrated service to university and community.

·         Experience teaching in face-to-face and online environments.

·         Experience in teacher education at the pre-service and/or in-service level.

·         Experience working on undergraduate accreditation.

·         Evidence (or strong potential) of maintaining a rigorous research agenda.

·         Demonstrated ability or potential to obtained external funding.

Candidates applying for appointment at the associate level are expected to provide evidence of research, teaching, and service at the level required for tenure at the University of Oklahoma.

 The position is a 9-month, tenure-track/tenured position, expected to begin August 2025.
