The Gerogia Cancer Center at Augusta University is recruiting for an Assistant Research Scientist. The purpose of this Assistant Research Scientist position Is to have a scientist with medical knowledge and scientific research experience to conduct research on both human samples and mouse models for cancer signaling and drug development research for precision medicine research. The personnel would also be responsible for general lab managing, including purchasing materials, and ensuring all safety protocols are updated. The scientist would be required to conduct independent research, preparing manuscripts and research grants. Lastly, the scientist will assist the Pl and the other scientist in the lab for collaborative research and student mentoring. This is a non-tenure type position.
Responsibilities
Conducting scientific research in an independent manner - 60
Conducting scientific research in an independent manner, which includes planning, execution of experiments, data analyses.
Involved in student mentoring and assist them with research - 5
Involved in student mentoring and assist them with research their research projects.
Preparing scientific manuscripts and grant applications - 30
Preparing scientific manuscripts and grant applications, including data preparation, figure preparation and submission.
Responsible for purchases, and safety protocol updates - 5
Responsible for purchases and safety protocol updates; the individual should fulfil all required trainings related to research conducted in the lab.
Required Qualifications
PhD or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
