Job Opening ID: 251514Position Number: 20009283 The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University invites applications for a PhD level Assistant Research Scientist (non-tenure track faculty) position. The position may cover any area in cellular or systems neuroscience. Applicants with expertise in neurodegenerative disease, cellular electrophysiology, and in vivo circuit studies are particularly encouraged to apply. Additional areas of interest include receptor biology and human iPSC-based neurological disease models. Department faculty have access to excellent core facilities for multiphoton/confocal and electron microscopy, small animal behavior and imaging, genomics and proteomics, flow cytometry and bioinformatics. The Research Scientist will work independently under the direction of Dr. Qin Wang and will be expected to conduct cutting-edge research in the fields of neuropharmacology, neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration, including engaging in collaborative projects. Will train and provide supervision to the postdocs, students and technical staff and will carry out research projects independently; design and execute research experiments, develop new methods, perform data analysis, write manuscripts and publish results.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Working independently under the direction of Dr. Qin Wang, conducting cutting-edge research in the fields of neuropharmacology, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration; Engaging in collaborative projects; Providing training and supervision to Postdoctoral Fellows, students and technical staff; Conducting research projects independently; Designing and executing research experiments, developing new methods, performing data analysis, writing manuscripts and publishing results.

The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine is charged with conducting high-impact original biomedical research and translating the findings to clinical applications, and in educating future physicians and researchers. Our research addresses fundamental questions in cell and developmental biology, endocrinology, neuroscience, regenerative medicine, and cancer biology. Collaborations have been established with clinical departments for studies that investigate various diseases including neurological diseases (stroke, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, and Guillain-Barre syndrome); psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia and autism); degenerative diseases (osteoporosis); cancer; and endocrinological disorders. Our department is also the home to the new Transgenic and Genome Editing Core.
