Job Summary
This position reports to the Human Resources Business Partner and provides operational support to assigned areas. The Human Resources Business Specialist (HRBS) will serve as a resource to all department staff and faculty concerning HR processes. The HRBS must be aware of the business environment of the assigned areas. Reporting to the HR Business Partner who reports to the Assistant Director, HR Business Partners. The HRBS will serve as a key member of the team to support the human resources and workforce needs of the assigned colleges, departments and schools.
The HR Business Specialist position will provide the opportunity to work closely with the HR Business Partner in performing an array of duties that will enlarge the candidate's area of focus to include classification, compensation, recruitment, onboarding and employee relations issues for faculty and staff of assigned colleges, departments and schools.
Responsibilities
Responds to routine employee requests for information on HR procedures. Research and provides recommendations for finalizing. Refers more complex requests to HRBP, the appropriate HR units, or the Solution Center; Serves as backup to the HRBP as needed.
Compile and forward hire/transfer/promotion packets to appropriate HR Coordinator.
Performs analysis of weekly data steward reports. Notifies departments if further action is needed.
Collaborate with screening candidates as well as assist with the salary review/calculation, contacting candidates to provide guidance and assistance as well as other efforts to keep the flow of the recruitment stages progressing.
Provides guidance to department staff responsible for initiating HR transactions.
Assist HRBP's with special projects and other individuals within HR and outside as well.
Assist HR Business Partners with Job Fairs.
All other duties as assigned and essential to provide top level service to assigned departments.
Review and route resumes to departments in a timely manner.
Coordinates employee on-boarding, based on requirements as established by HR functional units.
Ensures all employment hire documentation and pre-requisites are met.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and three years' professional HR experience operational experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with HR information systems. Experience with HR processes such as employment, on-boarding, classification, and compensation.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Knowledge of/experience with employee relations.
Knowledge of applicable HR laws including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO and Workers' Compensation.
Knowledge of and experience with recruitment and employment processes.
Knowledge of position classification and compensation.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Ability to analyze, interpret, and develop workable solutions to organizational issues
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days (Monday - Friday)
Salary Minimum: $20.29/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
