Job Description
The Astrophysics group at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a postdoctoral research scholar to work with Dr. Nikki Nielsen on projects focused on the circumgalactic medium of local galaxies up to cosmic noon. The growing CGM team primarily works with observations from large optical/near-IR telescopes using cutting-edge instruments such as the Keck Cosmic Web Imager. We encourage applications from all who have interests, skills, and experience in galaxy evolution, CGM astrophysics, quasar absorption line spectroscopy, and/or integral field spectographs who will collaborate with the team.
The successful candidate will have access to the Apache Point Observatory 3.5m telescope and the University of Oklahoma's supercomputer, Schooner. There is ample funding for computing resources and travel, and there will also be the opportunity to gain experience in mentoring undergraduate and PhD students, outreach, and other departmental activities.
Applicants should have completed requirements for a relevant PhD before the start date. This full-time position is for up to 3 years (2 years initial appointment plus 1 year renewal with satisfactory performance).
