Under supervision, perform service required in the operation and maintenance of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment, swimming pools, autoclaves, stills, computerized building climate controls, and related equipment, complying with EPA, OSHA, and all appropriate regulations and codes. Also perform duties electrical in nature all in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.

Job Function:

Minimum Education:
1.High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Preferred Education:
1.Associate's degree in HVAC.
Minimum Experience:
1.Successful completion of an apprenticeship program in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning as approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training and two (2) years of experience in electrical related work; or four (4) years of verified proof of experience in HVAC and two (2) years of verified proof experience in electrical related work; or six (6) years of experience in HVAC; or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable job knowledge can be acquired as determined by Ball State University.
2.Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, University policies, procedures, and communications, and perform mathematical functions.
3.Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.
4.Must be able to perform all mental and physical requirements as outlined in each job duty.
5.You must be 18 years or older.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repair work on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment, and report work performed on Preventive Maintenance Forms.
- Troubleshoot, adjust, repair and calibrate controls on all HVAC equipment.Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, HVAC related apparatus and control equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, and lubricate HVAC related pumps, motors, dampers, and other related equipment; inspect and clean coils and fans; inspect belts, vibration absorbers, and other related equipment.
- Troubleshoot, adjust, repair and calibrate controls on all HVAC equipment. Perform appropriate electrical tests and measurements and evaluate results as required for proper operation.
- Operate and maintain reverse osmosis (RO) water equipment, water softeners, gas fired humidifiers and fountains.
- Operate, maintain and repair water treatment equipment for pools; perform bacteriological and other tests.
- Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, and specifications pertaining to electrical, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of various job related chemicals, environmental concerns, applicable codes, and technological improvements/advancements.
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and install insulation on water lines, steam lines, pumps, and other HVAC related equipment. Install and connect wiring to peripheral devices, power equipment and related devices.
- Operate, maintain, install, and repair building automation systems related to HVAC, including computer hardware and software.
- Construct, fabricate, install, remodel, maintain, and repair air system fabrications for HVAC systems as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
