College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
Provide accounting and administrative support to the Department of Physiology to include the following job responsibilities: Assist in managing sponsored funds in accordance with institutional, state, and federal regulations. Provide administrative support to the Master's in Medical Physiology Program and assist with special lectureships and the annual Physiology research symposium.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Reports and Data Entry- Assist the Physiology research labs with various grant accounting functions including, but not limited to, preparation and reconciliation of accounting reports, database entries/maintenance, data validation, monthly financial reports.
Financial Documents- Prepare check requests related to reimbursements and purchases; verify fund availability. Determine the proper processing procedure/account code usage based on fund source to complete check requests (i.e. AU, AURI, AUMA or foundation).
Payment Verification- Verify receipt of payments and research and/or resolve discrepancies.
Grants and Contracts- Assist with preparing and routing grants and contracts as well as various financial forms (budget amendments, cost transfer paperwork, indirect exemption forms, etc).
Procurement- Process orders for supplies and equipment for research laboratories through eShop and the requisition system in Peoplesoft Financials; ensure proper information is obtained and provided related to purchases (Data Security form, Tax Exemption form, Technical Exemption form, W-9, etc.); and work with vendors to obtain appropriate paperwork.
P-card Program- Process purchasing card allocations for assigned labs in the Works Payment system and review p-card paperwork and transactions for accuracy and allowability.
Special Projects- Perform special projects assigned by the Chairman and Department Administrator, such as assisting with the planning aspects related to the department's special lectureships and the annual research symposium, as well as web page development. Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Educational Programs- Provide administrative support to the educational programs of the Department in Physiology.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
OR
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have accounting, budgeting and/or grant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn.
SKILLS
Detail Oriented.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary Minimum: $20.29-$25.34 hourly.
Pay Band: B7
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
