Augusta University invites applications for the faculty position of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics' Master of Science in Allied Health with a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetic Internship program (MS-DI). This is a full-time non-tenure track position.
The program is working to transition to the FEM/GP model in 2026. In the meantime, the faculty will oversee our MS-DI's three supervised practice rotation courses. This includes the 2nd year students for 32 hours a week for 12 weeks each fall semester in the Medical Nutrition Therapy 1 rotation. This rotation is the first supervised practice rotation in Medical Nutrition Therapy. It will include developing initial practical skills for practice. The supervised practice will be in small groups for three weeks at a time to accommodate individualized teaching and training for the graduate student interns. The supervised practice will include seeing patients or participating in simulation activities at Augusta University's high-fidelity Interdisciplinary Simulation Center.
The faculty will also teach didactic courses in the program and participate in the department, college and University service committees. Research and faculty practice effort may be assigned depending on the candidate's qualifications.
Responsibilities
Teaching Expectations:
  • Direct students in the clinic during their supervised internship.
  • Course design and delivery in the classroom.
  • Use online platform and other instructional technology.
  • Student research mentoring.
  • Provide academic advising.

Scholarship/Research:
  • Engage in scholarship/research program resulting in outcomes such as publications, professional presentations and grant submissions as appropriate.

Service:
  • Participate in service within the department, college, university and/or profession. Assume service leadership roles as appropriate.

Clinical/Patient Care
  • Participate in faculty practice as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
  • Registered Dietitian credential with at least 7 years of experience.
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate state licensure.
  • Experience as a dietetic internship preceptor.
  • Masters degree in Nutrition.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Effective teaching skills.

Assistant Professor- early-level career as a faculty member 0-4 years experience in related field.
Associate Professor- mid-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- senior-level career faculty member with 10 or more years of experience in related field to include five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Per Board of Regents (BOR) policy, Professors must have a terminal degree.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic teaching and research experience.
  • Specialty certification, i.e. RDN-AP, CNSC, CDE, CSP, CSO.
  • Doctoral degree, i.e., PhD, EdD, DCN.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
