Job Summary
The Senior Director for Philanthropy and Engagement identifies and cultivates relationships with external private stakeholders and seeks to increase philanthropic, sponsorship, and research revenues directed to the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center, the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, and College of Science and Mathematics to advance and support the university mission.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
GENERAL DUTIES: Works closely with the Vice Presidents, deans, department chairs, and faculty to: gain awareness of collective and individual areas of expertise, excellence, and unique capabilities in their related fields. Develop and communicate the philanthropic and partnership cases for support/investment in the programs and priorities of the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center and College of Science and Mathematics. Leverage their professional relationships and expertise in specific fields to identify and engage with prospective industry partners with mutual interests, utilize their programmatic knowledge to assist with the cultivation of major gift prospects, sponsors, or partnerships with private external sources.
MAJOR GIFT MANAGEMENT: Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards philanthropic gifts of $100,000 or more to the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, GA Cyber Innovation Center and College of Science and Mathematics with special emphasis on major gifts of $250,000 or more for Augusta University, by strategically building and managing a portfolio of approximately 125 confirmed major gifts prospects.
Performance is evaluated annually based upon predetermined and weighted performance of the responsibilities of the employee:
- Scheduling of and participation in face-to-face meetings with major gift prospective donors, and/or donors
- Identification and qualification of new major gift prospects
- Number of major gift proposals presented
- Number of major gifts solicitations closed
- Total dollars raised
Specific targets and weighting for all categories are based upon the breadth and maturity of the Senior Director of Philanthropy major gifts prospect portfolio on an annual basis.
COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION: Facilitates new and leverages existing academic, research and business relationships between external industry partners and faculty and/or AU programs. Identifies opportunities to deepen relationships through and solicits individual and industry partners for internships, sponsorships, leases, sponsored research and other mutually beneficial agreements between the university and private external stakeholders.
DOCUMENTATION: Appropriate and timely documentation of all stakeholder interactions and stakeholder relationship activities within the database of record
OTHER DUTIES: Works collaboratively with other Augusta University philanthropy professionals in the successful planning and execution of multiple college and university-wide alumni and donor engagement, stewardship and fundraising events; partners with the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center and College of Science and Mathematics colleagues on successful execution of events that expose external stakeholders to STEM initiatives at Augusta University. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five years of experience in higher education or non-profit organization, specifically experience in personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding private philanthropic gifts. Demonstrative success closing multiple gifts of $100,000 or more. Demonstrative success closing multiple gifts of $100,000 or more.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. 5 or more years major gift fundraising experience in higher education or non-profit organization, specifically, experience in personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding private philanthropic gifts. Demonstrated experience and established relationships working with cyber security industry partners. Demonstrated success closing multiple gifts of $100,000 or more. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).

- Able to work effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, community leaders, as well as patients, families, volunteers and employees.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends and conduct multi-day business trips.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of standard event management tasks and resources.
- Experience with databases (especially Raiser's Edge) and Internet searches.
SKILLS
- Highly developed computer skills, Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and constituent relations software.
- A high energy level, integrity and sincerity.
- Require adaptability, good judgment and initiative.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Pay Band: B17
Salary Minimum: $109,500 - Midpoint: $139,600
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
