The Department of Pediatrics in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is actively seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, as a board certified/board eligible General Pediatrician. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Patient Care/Service - 80%

• Become board certified in General Pediatrics by year three (3)
• Provide high-quality, comprehensive care in pediatrics in an effort to improve quality, safety and patient satisfaction
• Become increasingly productive through the provision of clinical services in general pediatric medicine
• Meet all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE)
• Meet and maintain productivity targets as set forth by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office through clinical services provided. Productivity targets are subject to change.
• Promote good professional relationships and build referral patterns with Augusta University physicians and physicians outside of Augusta University (referring physicians in community, region and state)
• Provide prompt feedback to referring physicians

Associate Program Director, Pediatric Residency Program - 10%

• Assisting the Program Director and Program Coordinator in ensuring ACGME common and specialist requirements are met
• Serving as core pediatric faculty member
• Development and oversight of curriculum/curricular elements assigned by Program Director
• Performing Administrative duties as assigned by Program Director
• Participation in residency program committees including program evaluation, clinical competency, and selection
• This includes serving as a faculty mentor and interviewing residency candidates during recruitment season
• Engaging in professional development activities which support individual goals in the areas of education, leadership, and/or scholarship

Teaching/Service - 10%

• Provide education and training to residents, medical students and staff in pediatrics which includes but is not limited to: clinical supervision, consultation and didactics
• Achieve and maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean
• Attend 50% or more weekly pediatric Grand Rounds presentations and monthly faculty meetings

Required Qualifications
Medical degree from an accredited medical school/university or equivalent; Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatrics; must have or be eligible for a State of Georgia Medical License, federal DEA for Georgia; CPR. Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and people management skills.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class.
