This position description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. Job duties may vary depending on facility.

Under the direction of a licensed provider or Registered Nurse (RN), the LVN assists in the evaluation of nursing care by collecting subjective and objective data and recognition of problems or abnormal conditions specific to patients of all ages.Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate health care team member. The duties may vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location, and type.Applies good interpersonal and communication process utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills to achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Patient Preparation & Screening: Reviews and updates patient records, checks test results, and ensures referrals are processed. Conducts initial screenings (vitals, medical history, chief complaint) and documents in EHR.
  • Clinical Support: Prepares patients for exams, assists providers during procedures, and facilitates communication. Administers medications, immunizations, IV therapy (if certified), and basic nursing procedures.
  • Administrative Tasks: Answers phones, schedules patients, handles clerical duties, and maintains EHR records. Processes provider orders and directs lab results for review.
  • Clinic Maintenance & Safety: Keeps exam rooms stocked, clean, and compliant with infection control standards. Monitors equipment and ensures patient safety. Assists in emergencies and patient evacuations.
  • Professional Development: Attends meetings, completes required training, provides patient education, and stays updated on best practices.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Completion of a licensed vocational nursing program
  • 1 year of work experience as an LVN in a medical environment.
  • Current LVN licensure in the State of California. Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification

  • This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $30.36 - $45.53 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
