Job Description
Summary
The Research Technician in this position will perform research into how the human microbiome impacts health and disease. Care of and handling of rodent models is a primary responsibility of this position. Additional responsibilities includes to conduct behavioral experiments, measurement of biological markers of disease, and/or isolation and culturing of microbes. Under the direction and general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will collaborate with other team members to conduct research. The technician will become well-trained in state of the art techniques for studying host. Microbiome interactions using in vivo and in vitro techniques. Flexibility in work schedule to occasionally work evenings or weekends.
Job Duties
- Performs care of animals and sample collection.
- Conducts behavioral experiments with mice.
- Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
- Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
- Follows established procedures and properly record result.
- Documents results of experiments.
- Contributes to laboratory and project meetings.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format as directed by the PI.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in animal care.
- Experience in microbiology.
- Experience in molecular biology.
- Has strong attention to detail.
- Has strong analytical Thinking/Problem Solving skills.
- Has excellent interpersonal skills, that includes oral and written communication skills.
- Capable of working alone and as part of highly collaborative teams.
