Job Description

Summary

Independently perform high quality and complex echocardiographic exams as well as transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) studies on patients ranging in age from neonates to adults; independently perform high quality vascular imaging and peripheral vascular testing as needed; may independently interpret research protocols to apply appropriate echocardiographic methods and standards; responsible for strict adhere to authorized imaging protocol.

The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, teamwork, works well under pressure, multitasking. This position will work closely with all members of cardiology, including other Echo Technologists, other members of diagnostic team, ordering and reading physicians, mid-levels, schedulers, nurses, medical assistants and front desk staff.

This position is located at our McNair Campus.

Job Duties

  • May perform research echocardiographic exams and collaborate with others to identify and follow research protocol for numerous studies.
  • Performs analysis of complex congenital and acquired pediatric heart abnormalities.
  • Recognizes and identifies complex anatomy and physiology, diagnosing dextrocardia, heterotaxy syndrome, etc.
  • Performs TEE studies, probe manipulation (with MD in attendance) encouraged and understand complex cardiac lesions from a TEE perspective.
  • Performs complex quantification analysis and remain up-to-date with the most recent technology and software available for cardiac quantification.
  • Performs three dimensional (3D) echo reconstruction and collects data.
  • May analyze strain rate and strain imaging for advanced function studies and collect data for statistical analysis.
  • May participate in animal imaging if protocols should require following specific animal imaging guidelines established by ASE and BCM.
  • Responsible for daily operational maintenance of the research echo lab supplies and equipment.
  • May enter study data into research database; maintains appropriate records and documentation for research compliance as needed.
  • Provides age-appropriate care for one or more of the following age groups routinely: Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, & Adult.
    Maintains clear communication with customers regarding mutual expectations. Takes personal responsibility and accountability for correcting customer-service problems.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited training program through an accredited institution.
  • Three years of relevant experience.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological science with emphasis on anatomy and physiology.
