Job Description
Position SummaryThe Jacobs School of Music seeks applicants for a visiting, full-time faculty position in the Ballet Department for the 2025-26 academic year (August 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027). The successful candidate will possess demonstrable strengths as a performer and choreographer, will be able to work effectively with faculty colleagues, and will be able to inspire gifted students in a highly competitive and professionally‐oriented educational environment.
Responsibilities include teaching ballet technique, pointe, virtuosity, variations, and both contemporary and classical ballet partnering (team-taught with a colleague) for all ballet majors; staging and coaching ballets for the IU Ballet Theater; choreographing new works for IU Ballet Theater and IU Opera Theater productions; and teaching select classes for the upper level of the Jacobs Academy Ballet Program. Participation in recruitment, auditions, student advising, and other department activities, and participation in projects within the Jacobs School, is expected.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or diploma is required; commensurate professional experience will be given equal consideration. Experience dancing in, and setting original choreography on, national/international ballet companies; successful experience teaching professional dancers. Proven experience in restaging ballets; extensive experience in the artistic administration and organizational management of national/international ballet companies/programs.

Additional Qualifications
Salary and Rank Rank is Visiting Associate Professor or Visiting Professor. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
