Essential Functions
The Post Award Grant Accountant provides post-award financial and compliance support for sponsored contracts and grants, including journal entries, cost share management, grant reporting, reconciliations, effort certification, and closeout activities. This position works under general supervision within the Office of Accounting and the Office of Sponsored Projects and exercises initiative and independent judgment while supporting principal investigators and departments to ensure accurate financial management and compliance with institutional, state, federal, and private sponsor requirements.
1. Setup of grant cost center(s) and budgets, and reporting calendar(s) based on grant agreements.
2. Monitor expenditures for allowability and allocability.
3. Monthly monitoring and maintenance of grants accounts.
4. Initiation and recording cost transfers/corrections and journal entries on grant accounts.
5. Monthly, Quarterly and Annual invoicing as required.
6. Frequent communication with grant PIs on funding dates, budget amendments, allowable/non-allowable costs, budget overruns, funding extensions, etc.
7. Attend, conduct and/or assist with grant accounting workshops.
8. Assist with various grant Financial Reporting requirements related to local, State, Federal and Private grant funding.
9. Assists PIs in managing their sponsored program portfolios
10. Manages sponsored projects that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy.
11. May review financial and administrative award administration requirements to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies and in accordance with State, Federal, and Private funding regulations.
12. Assistance in budget and form preparation, and interpretation of funding requirements and regulations.
13. Assist with the coordination for effort certification and reporting activities, including the development of training and operational support related to tracking sponsored program time and effort.
14. May work with PIs and departments in Time & Effort certification processes.
15. Assists PIs in managing their sponsored program portfolios

Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree, years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
2. Three (3) years of work experience involving grant/research administration, combined with experience with legal terminology, reviewing detailed legal documents, and language relevant to post-award administration and/or accounting related experience to include tracking and reconciling accounts.

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
